In War Powers Bill I outlined the provisions of the Defence Amendment (Parliamentary Approval of Overseas Service) Bill 2008 [No. 2], which was introduced in the Senate by Western Australian Greens Senator Scott Ludlam on 13 February 2008.
On 20 August 2009 the Senate referred the Bill to the Senate Defence, Foreign Affairs and Trade Committee for inquiry and report. The reporting date is 19 November 2009.
The Committee is seeking written submissions on the reference from interested individuals and organisations. The closing date for submissions is 16 October 2009.
