Time magazine for 16 June 2009 carries a perceptive article on the current struggle in Iran by well informed observer of Iranian affairs, Trita Parsi.
Dr Paris makes the very important point that the political contest playing out in this election is not a revolution but a contest among rival factions of the same regime.
Dr Parsi is the founder and president of the National Iranian American Council. He was born in Ahvaz, Iran and grew up in Sweden. He has a Master’s degree in international relations from the University of Uppsala, a Master’s degree in economics from the Stockholm School of Economics and a Ph.D. in international relations from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Relations. He served for a time in the Swedish Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York. He is the author of Treacherous Alliances: The Secret Dealings of Israel, Iran, and the United States (Yale University Press 2007).
